Worship the Lord your God

Jesus said it best, He always does. When he was tempted by Satan Jesus countered, "You shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only" (Matthew 4:10). Worship is not optional. Worshipping God is a command. Worship isn't an event I attend, it's a lifestyle I live.I'm going to be preaching about worship for the next 4 weeks here at EVC. I've been reflecting on this one thing for the last few days: Wouldn't it be sad if the element of true worship was missing from the church? It would be more than sad; it would be tragic.Of all the activities that go on at church, worship is the most important. Adoration of God is more important than activity for God. Many times we become so entrenched in the doing that we neglect the being. We can be too programmed and informed and planned and busy that we slight the real worship of our living God.A distinguished explorer was making a trek in the Amazon jungle. Tribesmen were carrying his stuff as he was making his way through the jungle. The explorer drove them hard for three days long days. At the end of the third day, they rested. When morning came and it was time to begin travelling again, the natives sat on the ground and wouldn't move. When asked why the natives wouldn't budge one man replied, "They are resting until their souls catch up with their bodies".That can happen in church as well. Worshipping God is the only activity that will allow our souls to catch up with our bodies.Nothing is more important than worshipping our God. My prayer is that we will all believe and practice that as we explore this subject through the Psalms.
Rejoicing in the Lord.
